The community voted across 11 polls with 25,000 total votes for the ultimate Far Far West loadout. Shotgun + Bow + Bottle Crate + Thunder Strike/Wisp/Pistolero — and yes, it absolutely clears nightmare mode.

Howdy, collaborator. Over the last few days, we held a series of polls on the channel to figure out what your favorite loadout actually is. Each poll back in February got 1-200 votes. This time? Most started at 2,000. In total: 11 polls, nearly 25,000 votes. That's absolutely insane.

So today we're combining all the winners into a single ultimate community-voted loadout — and taking it into nightmare mode to see if it actually works.

The Winners — Category by Category

Primary Weapon — Shotgun

Very close race between Shotgun and Lever Edge. Lever Edge was the previous winner back in February, but Shotgun overtook it this time. Honestly, Shotgun is my favorite too, so this checks out.

Secondary — Bow (Wait, Dual Revolvers Got Second?)

This one had to be repolled. The original poll didn't include the Dual Revolvers, but I got so many comments demanding it that I redid the entire poll. Result?

Rank Weapon Notes
1st Bow Won by a landslide
2nd Dual Revolvers Surprised everyone
3rd (other)
Last Sheriff Stars Dead last — shocking

"I never really hear people talk about the Dual Revolvers, and I always hear high praise for the Stars. So it's insane that these lost."

The Sheriff Stars finishing dead last is the biggest upset of the whole vote.

Utility — Bottle Crate

Rank Utility Why It Won/Lost
1st Bottle Crate Most versatile, helpful in any situation
Lower Impulse Grenade Fun but rarely used

I personally predicted Impulse Grenade would win — high mobility movement seems to appeal to top players. But the polls are now reaching everyone, and Bottle Crate is the universal choice.

Spells — The Trilogy

For spells, I polled each spell line individually, then put the winners against each other. Top 3 final results:

Rank Spell
1st Thunder Strike (won again, no surprise)
2nd Wisp
3rd Pistolero

It was actually closer than expected. Thunder Strike + Wisp + Pistolero — surprisingly well balanced. Some genuine spell combo potential here.

The Full Community Loadout

Slot Pick
Primary Shotgun
Secondary Bow
Utility Bottle Crate
Spell 1 Thunder Strike
Spell 2 Wisp
Spell 3 Pistolero

Does It Work in Nightmare?

Time to test it. Dropping into nightmare mode with the community-voted loadout, side-objective-completing playstyle, and seeing what happens.

First Impressions

The Wisp + Bow combo is stupid effective. Hit the Wisp with electric arrows and the AoE clear is instant. First danger zone? Cleared in seconds.

"We got the electric Wisp pretty easy. That will help clear out the field quite a bit."

The Combo Synergy

"This spell combo we got going on, this trilogy, it is ridiculously powerful together. The fun part about this whole community voting thing is we're technically not voting on what's the best loadout combined. It's just every individual element — and yet they still work so well together."

Component Role
Shotgun Close-range bursts
Bow Range + Wisp electrification
Bottle Crate Healing on demand
Thunder Strike Press-button-clear-screen
Wisp Sustained AoE damage
Pistolero Set-and-forget turret

It's one of those happy accidents where each individual winner happens to slot perfectly into a coherent build.

Random Joker Discoveries

Run highlights from the joker pool:

  • Dwarf — extra fire rate (don't really need it with Machine Gun on the gun)
  • Second Wind — picked it up, basically secured the run
  • Giant — paired with Dwarf in different runs for chaos
  • Spell Cooldown reduction — bumps up the Thunder Strike cycle
  • West Wizard — skipped, already had a HP-demolishing joker

The Second Wind pickup was the moment I knew this run was going to extract clean.

Storm and Side Objective Strategy

I cleared every single danger zone on the map before going for the boss. With this build, the Pistolero can be dropped at choke points to handle infinite waves while you focus on objectives.

The Forge is on the way, so I did that too — pistolero handles the wave timer, you grab the prize, move on.

"Without any dilly-dallying we did all the side objectives. There's still the Forge. And seeing as it's on the way, may as well do that as well."

The Bottle Crate utility means you never run out of healing options between zones. Pure quality of life.

The Boss Fight

The Shotgun isn't ideal for boss fights — no ammo-drop perks triggering on big single targets. But that's why bullets lay around the arena. Just rotate through your magazine, drop a Pistolero, and let Thunder Strike handle the adds.

"It's both good but bad — I don't trigger any of the ammo-dropping perks on this thing. But then again, that's why bullets lay around here."

The Machine Gun joker (level it up over time) makes the Shotgun feel insane once it's running. It takes a bit to get going but then it's elite.

Final Result — Extracted Clean

Yes — the community's favorite loadout is absolutely viable in nightmare mode.

  • All side objectives cleared
  • All danger zones cleared
  • Boss killed
  • Extracted alive
  • Massive Shotgun XP from the run

"Imagine if they didn't update that Dead Eyes targeting — they would all target you at once. I would have definitely been dead right there."

The recent dead-eye target nerf was crucial — at one point all the lasers on me would've insta-killed.

Final Thoughts

Vote What Won
Most expected Thunder Strike, Bow, Shotgun
Biggest surprise Dual Revolvers second place, Sheriff Stars dead last
Best happy accident All three spells synergize perfectly
Verdict Viable in nightmare, full build clear successful

The community voted for individual winners across each slot, but somehow the combined loadout works as a coherent build. Shotgun for close, Bow for range and Wisp procs, Bottle Crate for sustain, and the spell trilogy press-button-clear hordes.

I'll definitely want to do this again after a few updates and new weapons drop.

Big thanks to everyone who voted — this was a lot of fun to put together. For the full nightmare run with all the side content, watch the original video.
