Far Far West Halloween Update 2026: Fear Fear West Deep Dive

Far Far West Halloween update guide: the Fear Fear West ritual, haunted candles, Disturbance system, Dealmakers, jetpack jokers, and how to unlock Redwood.
Far Far West Halloween Update 2026: Fear Fear West Deep Dive
Last updated: November 2, 2026 — based on our official Update Deep Dive video.
Our Far Far West Halloween update, Fear Fear West, adds a limited-time event running until 12 November, alongside new gameplay systems, a jetpack, the Redwood map, cosmetics, and quality-of-life improvements.
Howdy, y’all! I’m Damian, Far Far West’s community manager, and I’m here to walk you through what we’ve added, how the Halloween ritual works, and why you might want to check that Disturbance bar before doing absolutely everything on the map.
If you read our earlier Far Far West Halloween Event: New Region, Boss, Rewards, and Release Date Speculation preview, this is where we get into the released update. Some things have changed since our previous devlogs, particularly resource collection and modifiers, so let’s get you caught up.
How do I take part in the Far Far West Halloween update?
Start at mission selection and look for the Halloween objective icons. These show you where to find the resources needed for our event ritual.

You’ll need feathers, pumpkins, and skulls, but each mission only contains one or two of those resource types. Don’t expect to gather everything in a single outing: check the icons and plan your runs around whichever ingredients you’re missing.
Each resource has its own activity:
| Resource | How you collect it |
|---|---|
| Feathers | Find the crow statue and shoot the fleeing crow to collect its feathers |
| Skulls | Find a haunted cemetery and destroy the flying skulls |
| Pumpkins | Defeat the Halloween boss |
For feathers, keep your attention on the crow once you reach its statue. Your ingredients aren’t going to politely sit there waiting to be collected.

If you remember shooting flying pumpkins in our devlogs, you haven’t imagined that. We changed things around because having the Halloween boss drop pumpkins made more sense. The cemetery activity now uses flying skulls instead.
Once you have all the ingredients you need, return to the lobby and place them in the cauldron. Performing the ritual rewards you with haunted candles, our Halloween event currency.

That’s your event loop: check the objectives, gather the ingredients, return to the cauldron, and turn your questionable collection of objects into something you can spend.
What can I spend haunted candles on, and what happens after the event?
You can spend haunted candles on our Halloween cosmetics. We’ve got character outfits, something suitably ghostly for your mount, titles, and emotes.
| Reward type | Available rewards |
|---|---|
| Three character skins | Sawbones, Scarecrow, and returning Pumpkin Jack |
| One mount skin | Ghost skin for your mount |
| Four titles | Dies First, Scarecrow, Bounty Hunter, The Legend of the Fear Fear West |
| Two emotes | Spooked and Ritual |

Now, the important bit: spend your event resources before the event ends on 12 November.
Feathers, pumpkins, and skulls will be deleted from your inventory afterward. Any leftover haunted candles will become souls at a rate of two souls per candle. You won’t lose the candles without receiving anything, but you also won’t be able to keep using them as event currency.
Every cosmetic you unlock is yours forever.
And if you don’t unlock everything? We’re not locking those cosmetics away. After the event, unclaimed cosmetics will be available for gold at around four times the price of cosmetics of the same rarity.
Participating in Fear Fear West is the fastest route to these rewards, but it isn’t your only route. We want you enjoying spooky season, not worrying that missing an outfit means losing it forever.
How does the Disturbance System make missions harder?
Once your build starts coming together, enemies can sometimes struggle to keep up. We want you to feel powerful, but we also want the later stages of a mission to stay exciting.
That’s why we’ve added Disturbance: a system that gradually raises the stakes as you get things done, without simply undoing the work you’ve put into your build.
Actions that increase Disturbance include:
- Activating lighthouses.
- Finishing quests.
- Killing mini-bosses.
- Completing objectives.
- Activating modifiers.
Different actions add different amounts. The more you accomplish, the faster that bar fills.
| Disturbance | Effect |
|---|---|
| 35% | Enemies move 5% faster |
| 70% | Enemies move 15% faster |
| 100% | Enemies move 30% faster, the spawner boss gains 10% health, and Raid Storm is triggered |
The practical trade-off is straightforward: clearing more of the map also makes things more dangerous. Keep an eye on that bar rather than assuming every extra activity comes without consequences.
Our goal isn’t to make every mission drastically harder. It’s to keep things engaging when you’re otherwise steamrolling everything in sight.
We’re also planning higher difficulties for the future, but those are separate from what I’m covering here. For now, Disturbance gives your current missions a little more bite.
How do Jokers Choice and Dealmakers work?
Jokers Choice gives you more control over drops
Our joker pool keeps growing. That means more build possibilities, but it also makes finding a particular fit less likely.
With Jokers Choice, you now pick one of two jokers whenever you encounter a joker drop.

We’ve added that choice to give you more chances to find something useful instead of immediately breaking a joker down for uranium or taking it to the refiner.
You’re not guaranteed the perfect option, but you do get more say in how your build develops. A small change on paper, and a useful one when you’re trying to pull a build together.
Dealmakers make modifier deals optional
In earlier devlogs, we experimented with tying random modifiers directly to Disturbance as mandatory challenges. After testing with our community, we decided that approach wasn’t working.
We didn’t want a random challenge you never chose to spoil an otherwise enjoyable run. So, for modifier deals, we’re putting the decision in your hands.
There are two Dealmakers per mission:
- One waits near your spawn.
- One roams around the map.
Each offers a selection of modifiers with different rewards, plus a third, random deal with fixed rewards if you’re feeling lucky.

Harder modifiers offer more rewards, and the XP you earn applies to both your hero and your weapons.
There are two catches worth remembering. First, Dealmaker rewards decrease as Disturbance rises. Second, Dealmakers leave once you finish the main objective.
If you want a deal, look for it before completing that objective—and consider checking the nearby Dealmaker early, before you’ve filled the Disturbance bar. Negotiating with someone who has already left town remains a fairly unsuccessful strategy.
What modifiers can I encounter?
The modifiers you’re offered depend partly on your difficulty. On Normal, you’re more likely to receive an easier modifier. On Nightmare, the odds shift toward tougher or standard modifiers.
There’s also a small chance of finding a “good” modifier on any difficulty.
As for what they actually do, we’ve included a fairly questionable assortment:
- Devil Dust: Spawns giant tornadoes across the map.
- Blackout: Makes you rely on your flashlight to see.
- Left-Handed: Makes you left-handed. Sometimes the name does the explaining for me.
- Farmyard: Spawns friendly chickens—until you hit them.
- Internet 3.0: Introduces free unskippable ads. You’re welcome.
And if you’re particularly lucky, you might even come across Gary.

You can ignore the Dealmakers entirely if you don’t want their challenges, or accept extra risk for additional rewards. Just remember that hitting 100% Disturbance triggers the Raid Storm modifier on its own.
We want you to have more control over the kind of run you’re playing, whether that means sticking to your usual approach or deliberately introducing some chaos.
What does the new jetpack do?
We’ve added the jetpack as a secondary weapon, letting you fly around and crash down hard on enemies.
Apparently, shooting things from the ground wasn’t quite enough. Now you can make your arrival everyone else’s problem.

The jetpack arrives with three unique jokers:
| Joker | Effect |
|---|---|
| Trail Pack | Leaves elemental puddles on the ground |
| Crash Pack | Doubles fuel ammo but halves flight duration |
| Hover Pack | Replaces the right-click dive-bomb with a fuel-costing hover boost and swaps your weapon |
Give them a try and see which one fits the way you like to fight.
How do I unlock the Redwood map?
To unlock Redwood, you’ll need to complete Lady Granny’s quest line.
You’ll meet her while she’s busy with her side job in the woodlands. Naturally, when an old lady in the woods asks for help, my instinct is to ask absolutely no questions and get straight to work. What could possibly go wrong?
I’m leaving the quest details for you to discover, but completing that quest line opens up our new map.

Redwood is a dark, mysterious forest packed with trees and enemies. There’s plenty of scenery, but the local opposition would still very much like to see you dead. Business as usual, then.
There’s also a strange cauldron in the woods. I’m not going to explain everything about that here, but I am encouraging you to investigate the suspicious magical object.
Excellent survival advice, I’m sure.
What other new content and gameplay changes are included?
What’s the new main objective?
We’ve added a new main objective to the rotation featuring a giant buzzsaw.
Sometimes shooting, explosions, and magic simply aren’t enough. Sometimes you need a really big saw. I’ll leave you to discover the objective itself during your missions.
Where can I race my teammates?
Horse racing is now available in the lobby. Head to the fields behind the cemetery to challenge your teammates.
If your group has been debating who’s the finest rider in the Far Far West, you can finally settle it somewhere other than a conversation. Whether your friend can avoid riding into every tree is another matter.
How have bosses changed?
We want bosses to feel like the big final showdown before extraction, so we’ve:
- Reworked their attacks.
- Given them more structured combat patterns.
- Made them more aggressive, especially on higher difficulties.
The Cryptic Train hasn’t received the same treatment yet. We want to tackle that in the future as we bring our bosses toward the same standard of quality and polish.
What’s changed in the lobby and cosmetics?
Our lobby has had a Halloween makeover, giving y’all a spookier place to spend time between missions.
We’ve also added three classic character skins, separate from the Halloween reward lineup: Anna Wooltour, Missy, and Spiky.

What quality-of-life updates and extras should I know about?
We’ve included balancing changes, bug fixes, and quality-of-life work alongside the larger additions. I won’t cover every smaller adjustment here, but these are worth knowing before your next run.
Controller support has received some much-needed attention. We’ve reworked input remapping so you can assign multiple key binds to the same action and rebind gamepad buttons.
Promo codes now support copy and paste. You can paste a code straight into the text box rather than typing it out.
Disconnected players can rejoin a run while keeping their collected uranium and jokers. Previously, those could be lost after a disconnection. We’ve also done backend stability work intended to make disconnections happen less often in the first place.
Finally, we’ve partnered with the awesome people at Kid Katana Records to release the full Far Far West OST on all major streaming platforms. It’ll also be on Steam very soon, so keep an eye on our socials for updates.
For the smaller balancing adjustments and fixes beyond these highlights, we’ve put the detailed breakdown in our written patch notes on Steam.
Quick answers to common questions
When does the Fear Fear West event end?
The event runs until 12 November. After that, feathers, pumpkins and skulls are deleted, and leftover haunted candles turn into souls at two souls per candle.
Can I collect every ritual ingredient in one mission?
Usually not. Each mission only contains one or two of the three resources, so check the Halloween icons at mission selection and plan a couple of runs.
Does Dealmaker XP level my weapons too?
Yes. The XP you earn from deals applies to your hero and your weapons, so taking on a few extra risks helps both get stronger faster.
