The Far Far West community voted for the least-liked weapons, utility, and spells across 40,000 votes. Quad Cylinder, Sheriff Stars, Healing Aura, Mino, Finger Guns, and Swap tested on nightmare mode.

Howdy, collaborator. What is the least liked loadout in Far Far West? Well, we actually have an answer. A while back I ran a bunch of polls that have collectively gotten 35-40,000 votes — meant to showcase the community's favorite loadout. But on the flip side, they also revealed what the community least enjoys.

Some picks are obvious. One is going to shock you. Then we're going to take this cursed loadout into nightmare mode and see if it can actually win.

And rip to the one player whose favorite loadout is exactly this cursed combination.

The Least-Liked Primary — Quad Cylinder

The Quad Cylinder took the bottom slot. Honestly, this probably would have ranked higher if it wasn't for the recent Homing Burst nerf.

Before the nerf, Homing Burst fired 5 homing bullets on the first AND last shot of every clip. People made absolutely insane fire-and-reload builds with this, which is exactly why it got nerfed.

Now it only fires 2 homing bullets every 8 shots. Still sounds strong, but the previous version was busted. Post-nerf, it doesn't have the wow factor anymore, and the ammo economy became a real problem.

The Least-Liked Secondary — Sheriff Stars (The Big Shocker)

This is the one nobody expected.

"I often see these come up as something that people really like, but apparently in the majority of the player base, most people don't use them."

Why? The theory: not many players use the movement system to its full potential. Sheriff Stars are amazing for mobility builds — flying across the map, chaining jumps, dodging. But if you're not playing that way, they feel underwhelming.

The Least-Liked Utility — Healing Aura

Zero surprise here. In the poll I called this Healing Bottle (its old name — they renamed it a while back).

"This thing is terrible. You should not use it."

Why Healing Aura sucks:

Alternative Why It's Better
Life Steal Passive healing from every kill
Life Pact Joker Heal on kill
Drain spell Fast burst heal + damage
Ritual spell Heals faster than Healing Aura
Bottle Crate utility Spawns actual healing bottles for instant HP burst

Even within the utility category, Bottle Crate is just objectively better. Healing Aura is really really slow — by the time you've healed a chunk of HP, an enemy has already refilled your damage.

The Least-Liked Spells

3rd Place — Mino

This one is debatable. Yes, Mino ranks low in the polls, but multiple commenters pointed out that Cactus Day is a thing that spawns Minos, and lots of players use that Joker. So they might be using Minos indirectly without picking the spell itself.

2nd Place — Finger Guns

To no one's surprise. Finger Guns is the max-level Pyro spell, and despite multiple buffs, it's still not as strong as other max-tier spell options. It's got that awkward "you have to actively hold it" playstyle that most people don't want to deal with.

1st Place (Least Liked) — Swap

Swap makes sense as the least liked:

  • Current iteration leaves you very vulnerable after casting
  • No good reason to WANT to be close to enemies right now
  • Can spawn you into the middle of a horde and instantly die

Community fix suggestion: Give Swap more invincibility frames after casting so you don't spawn in a death situation. Also, once melee weapons get added, Swap will probably become much more useful.

Can It Beat Nightmare?

Time to test the cursed loadout in nightmare mode. Spoiler: it's rough.

Early Combat

"Oh boy. Oh boy. That one snake really messed me up there."

The first fight didn't go well. Snakes chunked HP hard because Healing Aura couldn't keep up.

Finger Guns Surprise

Against a group with the fire shield modifier, Finger Guns actually held up:

"I haven't used Finger Guns much, especially cuz I never really liked them. But with a shield of gas, if there were a lot like this instance, it actually wasn't too bad."

Just blast a pretty shield. It works when you're facing a wall of gas-shielded enemies.

Danger Zone Test — The Real Test

Went into a danger zone with the objective inside.

"And that clearly didn't do as well. It did not have the stopping power there."

The loadout's fatal flaw exposed: no good AoE, no good horde clear.

Verdict — Is This Loadout Actually Bad?

Debatable. Here's the honest breakdown:

Weaknesses

  • No weapon that handles large groups well
  • Swap is useless in horde situations
  • Quad Cylinder runs out of ammo fast at medium damage
  • Finger Guns has a very long cooldown
  • Healing Aura is too slow to actually save you

Verdict

"I don't think this loadout is particularly bad. You just need to learn how to play with it."

Recommendation: Swap the utility to Bottle Crate or Ammo Pack instead of Healing Aura. That single change probably makes it viable.

Calling this "the worst loadout in the game" isn't quite fair. Least liked — sure. But with build knowledge, even the least popular picks can win.

Quick Reference

Category Least-Liked Suggested Replacement
Primary Quad Cylinder Post-nerf, still viable with accuracy build
Secondary Sheriff Stars Underrated for mobility players
Utility Healing Aura Bottle Crate — better in every way
Spells Mino, Finger Guns, Swap Use Corruption, Rain, or Wisp instead
