Far Far West Sniper as Primary Build — Can Long Ranger Actually Carry? (Spoiler: The Pistols Are)

Testing the sniper (Long Ranger) as a main weapon in Far Far West. Rampage vs Speedster vs Reload Mastery, why Dual Pistols secondary carries the run, and honest verdict on whether it beats Lever Edge or Shotgun.

Alright, what's up everybody. Uh, machine gun sniper loadout. I was originally going to do a Minigun build, but I realized how boring that would be. So instead — let's try to use the sniper as an actual primary weapon and see if it holds up.

Spoiler: it's fine. Not great. But the Dual Pistols secondary is carrying so hard it doesn't matter.

The Concept

Most people run the sniper as a utility — swap in, delete a dead eye, swap out. This build asks: what if you actually tried to primary it?

The Sniper Loadout

Joker Purpose
Rampage Move speed + stacking reload on kill
Whatever else Whatever feels right for you

Honest admission from the video:

"I'm running Rampage because I'm bored. That's pretty much the gist of it. Sheer boredom."

Speedster is probably the better pick — but is it as interesting to upkeep? No. Reload Mastery is probably better in this situation than Rampage too.

The moral: this isn't the meta-optimized sniper build. It's the "let's see what happens" build.

Why the Sniper Feels Meh as Primary

"It does take a little bit to ramp up because that's just how it works."

Sniper limitations as a primary:

  • Slow ramp-up on damage stacking
  • Bad against groups of trash mobs
  • Ammo economy is rough
  • Needs precision — one miss = wasted DPS
  • Would just prefer the Lever Edge in most situations. Maybe. Probably. Actually a lot of it.

The Real MVP — Dual Pistols Secondary

The load-out succeeds because of what's behind it:

"This run is basically almost guaranteed to win because it has Dual Pistols."

The Dual Pistols do so much damage the sniper barely needs to work. When the primary struggles, swap to pistols, blow up the problem, swap back. In practice, you'll spend most of the run using pistols anyway.

The secondary is doing the heavy lifting. The sniper is just there for style points and picking off ranged snipers.

Spells — Pistol Arrow + Drain Required

Non-negotiable:

Spell Why
Pistol Arrow (Pistolero) Broken. Carries every loadout
Drain Sustain — required for solo runs
Third slot Whatever you want

"Pistol arrow just carries every loadout. I'm not even joking. It's just broken."

This is a running theme in the video. Pistolero doesn't care what weapon you bring — it clears anyway.

Elite Enemies in Single Player

Something to know if you're switching between modes:

"I forgot how easy elites die in single player, not in this mode. Oh my goodness bro."

Solo elites are significantly weaker than co-op elites. This build might look stronger than it actually is because of that. Don't get overconfident and bring this into a hard nightmare co-op mission.

Wallow Carrying the Show

"It's going to be a Wallow carrying because that spell is OP."

Wallow (from the acid line) is another spell that quietly carries builds. If you brought it in one of your slots, you'll notice the same pattern — the "gimmick" of your build isn't doing the heavy lifting. Wallow is.

Boss Fight Reality Check

Verdict on sniper vs. boss:

"It's okay at dealing with bosses. Is it as good as the revolvers? No. That's just because that's not really the sniper's fault or this loadout's fault. It's just the revolvers are busted."

Sniper does the job on bosses. Just not as fast as Dual Pistols would. Everything the sniper can do, the pistols do better. Which loops back to why this build exists — style points and switching things up.

The Recurring Theme in Every Build Video

Honest confession from the creator:

"I feel like a lot of my showcase videos though — it just eventually ends up being like whatever is the broken thing in the loadout carrying whatever the gimmick is."

For this video, the gimmick is the sniper. The broken thing carrying it is Dual Pistols. Sound familiar? That's like 80% of the meta right now.

Extraction

Cleared the run. Didn't die to the train caboose falling on the head this time (which the creator apparently does like 10,000 times).

Final Verdict

The Machine Gun Sniper build:

  • Sniper as primary is debatable at best
  • Dual Pistols make it viable
  • Would you rather run this than Lever Edge as primary? Probably not
  • Would you rather run this than Shotgun? Definitely not
  • Fun to try? Sure

Quick Reference

Component Pick
Primary Sniper (Long Ranger)
Sniper Jokers Rampage (or Speedster / Reload Mastery for meta)
Secondary Dual Pistols
Spells Pistolero, Drain, +1 flex
Wallow Bring it if you have the slot
Real MVP Dual Pistols + Pistolero (per usual)

Community Suggestions Wanted

The creator mentioned running out of build ideas. Comment your suggestions on the video. Melee run before actual melee weapons drop? That's coming, probably.

If you have builds you want to see, drop them in the comments. For the full unedited run, check out the original video.
