Far Far West Speed Shotgun Build — The Overblast + Speedster Combo That Dominates Nightmare

The Speed Shotgun build for Far Far West. Overblast pellet stacking, Reload Mastery from empty, and Speedster with passive movement scaling — the meta build clearing nightmare with full map completion.
There are a lot of powerful builds in Far Far West, but some just stand out way more than others. Today we're covering the Speed Shotgun build — one that a lot of players are running that absolutely dominates nightmare difficulty. Full breakdown below.

The core interaction: Overblast fires an extra pellet for every round missing from the magazine. Combine that with a huge clip and Speedster's fire-rate scaling, and you're pouring insane DPS into every trigger pull.
Shotgun Upgrades

Point priority depends on how many upgrade points you have:
| Points | Distribution |
|---|---|
| 20 points (base) | Max clip size → rest into accuracy (20%) |
| 24 points (prestiged) | Max clip size → accuracy fills the rest |
| Alternative | Damage over accuracy — but accuracy feels way better in practice |
Community insight (correctly): accuracy tests better than damage at this point count. Give it a try if you were team-damage before.
Shotgun Jokers — Overblast Is The Engine

| Joker | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Overblast (Unique, level 50) | +1 pellet per bullet missing from magazine — the entire build |
| Reload Mastery | 50% faster reload from empty — needed because we WANT the mag to hit zero |
| Speedster | +damage and fire rate based on movement speed |
| Swift Shot | Solo pick if not fully prestiged |
| Running Gun (with all prestige) | +30% move speed when shooting — stacks with Speedster |
Why We Want the Mag to Hit Zero
The trick most people miss: Overblast rewards the last shot most. So instead of tactical reloading at half-mag, dump the whole magazine for maximum stacked pellet count on the final shots. Then the 50% faster reload from empty gets you back into it fast.
The Speedster Trick
Speedster's damage and fire rate boost activates based on your movement speed stat, not actual motion.
"As long as you have increased movement speed, you don't necessarily need to be running around for this to activate. You can be standing still and as long as you have a lot of extra movement speed, you're going to be dealing extra damage."
That's why we stack disgrace + Speedy Gonzales — passive Speedster uptime just from character upgrades.
Secondary — Whatever Snipes Dead Eyes

Not critical to the build. Just bring anything that can pick off floating dead eyes at range.
My pick: Revolver with:
- Speedster (still stacks the character theme)
- Mark Ace — mark the enemy, swap to shotgun for bonus damage
Character Setup — Full Speed

Every point into movement speed. This is what powers Speedster.
Character Jokers
| Joker | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Second Wind | Hard lock in solo — one free revive |
| Speedy Gonzales ×2 | Base movement stat multiplier |
| Disgrace | +30% move speed (no horse, but who needs one) |
| Soul Siphon | Healing sustain |
| Bouncing Ball | Bonus damage when jumping — you jump a LOT with this |
Alternative Setups
- Battle Mage in place of Bouncing Ball for spell cooldown scaling
- Drop Soul Siphon + Bouncing Ball for 1 Mythic Joker of your choice
- Any Mythic works — build is flexible in these slots
Spells

For this run:
- Wisp — AoE horde clear
- Thunder Strike — nuke button
- Ritual — heals
Personal Favorite Alternative
"Personally I still prefer Thunder Strike, Rain, and Doll. That is my favorite combination in the game."
Wisp + Thunder Strike + Ritual is a great alternative when you want the healing safety net, but Thunder Strike + Rain + Doll is the meta if you're playing risky.
The Full Playstyle

The mental loop:
- Empty the entire mag — never reload partial
- Trigger the reload from empty — 50% faster with Reload Mastery
- Stay in constant motion — jumping, dashing, bunny-hopping
- Speedster is always active — even when momentarily still
- Save Thunder Strike for the biggest waves
- Wisp handles chaff constantly
The build feels like a boomer shooter — never stop moving, never stop shooting, keep the mag counter cycling.
Nightmare Run — Full Clear Strategy

For the nightmare run I ran a full map clear:
| Objective | Count |
|---|---|
| Danger zones | All 4 (each with reinforcement wave) |
| Side objectives | All 3 |
| Main objective | Completed |
| Ghost houses | Every one on the way |
The build eats through reinforcement waves. Overblast pellet stacking + Wisp = you're deleting the wave before it even builds up.
Why This Build Works

Three interlocking systems:
| System | Contribution |
|---|---|
| Overblast pellet stacking | Massive burst damage on last-shot |
| Reload Mastery from empty | Cycles you back to full DPS fast |
| Speedster passive uptime | Constant +damage/+fire rate from move speed |
Everything reinforces "fire the whole magazine, reload, repeat." It's the simplest playstyle possible with the highest reward.
Full Extraction

Nightmare cleared with:
- All zones done
- All side objectives done
- Full ghost house sweep
- Aggressive-but-safe playstyle
The build is aggressive but has enough sustain (Soul Siphon + Ritual + Second Wind) to survive the mistakes.
