Long Ranger — Far Far West Weapon Guide

Complete guide to the Long Ranger in Far Far West, the precision sniper primary. Mindshot and Focus Shot unique Jokers, weak-spot builds, and Acid boss-hunter loadouts.
The Long Ranger is the dedicated marksman primary in Far Far West and the best precision pick in the game. It is an auto/semi-auto sniper with a large magazine, heavy per-shot damage, and a slow, deliberate fire cadence. That profile makes it excellent against flying enemies and elites — the high-threat targets you want gone before they ever reach your team. It sits at Tier A, the standout choice when your job is precise, high-impact shots rather than raw wave-clear.

How It Unlocks
The Long Ranger is a primary, so it costs 500 Gold plus 6 Fragments assembled at the Gunsmith in the Saloon. Fragments drop from bosses, Wishing Wells, Coyotes, and forge events, and you can only Fragment-track one weapon per mission, so plan a few runs around tracking it.
Stats Overview
| Stat | Value | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| Per-Shot Damage | Very high | Deletes elites |
| Accuracy | Excellent | Auto-sniper feel |
| Range | Maximum | Best reach in class |
| Fire Rate | Slow | Deliberate shots |
| Magazine | Large | Long engagements before reload |
Why Use the Long Ranger
- Heavy per-shot damage that deletes elites and airborne snipers
- Maximum effective range — engage threats before they close
- Mindshot turns weak-spot hits into AoE explosions
- Focus Shot ties your kills directly into spell uptime
- The safe, high-value playstyle: kill threats before they reach you
Weaknesses
- Slow fire rate compared with other primaries
- Weak in close quarters and tight rooms
- Struggles against dense horde waves on its own
- Needs a capable sidearm to cover its close range
The Two Unique Jokers
The Long Ranger has exactly two Unique Jokers.
- Mindshot makes weak-spot hits explode, giving the rifle genuine AoE. This is what lets a pure single-target sniper clear the trash that clusters around an elite — land the weak-spot shot and the explosion handles the adds.
- Focus Shot cuts your spell cooldown by 1 second on each kill. On a precision weapon that reliably secures kills, that adds up fast, keeping your elemental spells available far more often than the slow fire rate would otherwise allow.
Note: earlier versions of this guide were missing Focus Shot. Mindshot and Focus Shot are the Long Ranger's two Uniques.
Mindshot Mechanics
Mindshot triggers an explosion on every weak-spot hit, so the payoff is entirely tied to accuracy:
- The explosion damages enemies clustered near the impact
- It effectively grants the Long Ranger AoE without changing its core single-target identity
- It pairs naturally with weak-spot Jokers, since you are already aiming for the spots that trigger it
- It makes the rifle viable against grouped enemies, not just isolated elites
Best Joker Cards
For Joker synergies and slot-budget planning, see our best Joker builds guide. Unique cards sit outside the rarity-cost system; generic Jokers cost points by rarity.
| Card | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Mindshot | Unique | Weak-spot hits explode — adds AoE |
| Focus Shot | Unique | Each kill cuts spell cooldown by 1 second |
| Weak Link | Prime | +35% weak-spot damage, −35% normal damage |
| Headbang | Mythic | +20% weak-spot damage |
| Lucky Strike | Prime | Chance to deal double damage |
The Long Ranger is the textbook weak-spot weapon, so Headbang and Weak Link are core. Weak Link's penalty to normal hits barely matters when you are landing weak-spot shots almost every time, and stacked with Headbang it pushes per-shot damage on elites and bosses to its peak. These are generic Jokers, not Long Ranger Uniques — Weak Link is Prime and Headbang is Mythic.
Element Synergy
Combat is setup-and-trigger: Acid sets up, Fire and Electric trigger detonations, Voodoo near an elemental puddle spawns healing candles, and an Electric Portal duplicates spells thrown through it. Acid is the recommended element for the Long Ranger's boss-hunter loadout. Acid sets the target up — Rain, Contagion, or a Geyser — and then your heavy precision shots, plus a Fire or Electric trigger, cash in the detonation on a single high-value enemy. It is the cleanest way to layer the Long Ranger's per-shot damage on top of a spell combo.
Recommended Loadouts
| Playstyle | Sidearm | Element | Spells |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boss hunter | Revolver | Acid | Rain + Contagion + Firebeam |
| Elite hunter | Dual Revolvers | Acid | Contagion + Geyser + Thunderstrike |
| Ranged combo | Bow | Acid | Rain + Bubble + Portal |

Upgrade Priority
- Damage — maximizes per-shot impact on elites and bosses
- Fire Rate — more shots per window against bosses
- Reload Speed — less downtime between magazines
Role in the Team
In co-op the Long Ranger is the designated elite and air killer. Call out high-threat targets and delete them before they reach your squad, and use Mindshot explosions to thin the trash gathering around them. Solo, lean on a strong sidearm and passive close-range spells to cover the range the rifle can't, and treat every shot as a weak-spot attempt — precision is the entire identity of the weapon.
